Background
Bio-Medical Research, Ltd., is an
international company with subsidiaries in the United States,
Germany, the UK and Japan. Its Corporate Headquarters and the
Research and Development Center are located in Galway, Ireland.
BMR NeuroTech markets and distributes
its own products, neuromuscular electrical stimulator (NMES) and
transcutaneous electrical stimulation (TENS) products. The NeuroTech
range is targeted at the medical sector, and is used by patients and
healthcare professionals.
Business Requirement
BMR Neurotech made a decision to launch
a new range of products (Neurotech Baxolve) through an e-commerce
website developed in-house. There was a need to integrate this
system with their dedicated business systems in Donegal.
The key requirements of the system were
:
- Facilitate the transfer of internet
orders to the order dispatch system which processes these orders,
prints courier specific labels for dispatch and sends appropriate
consignment data to the appropriate courier to facilitate track and
trace.
- Transfer of web order and shipment
data to the call centre system (Clientel) to provide full customer
history to assist in customer support calls.
- Allow customers to track the progress
of orders without interaction with BMR staff
- The system had to provide a quick win
in that it should be easily deployed.
Solution
Genbase Solutions worked in partnership
with BMR over a period of two months to deliver the completed
solution. A mixture of Visual Basic and SQL Server Data
Transformation Services was used to implement the integration
processed. Regular scheduled data transformation processes are
executed which synchronise the three systems. Genbase solutions were
responsible for the requirements analysis, system design,
development and installation of the solution.
Conclusion
- BMR has significantly increased the
level of service given to its customers by improving the quality and
speed of information collection and feedback.
- Customers and staff are very happy
with the system.
