Background
Green Isle is a key Member of the Northern Food Group. With manufacturing facilities in Naas, Longford, Portumna and Boyle it is responsible for such well known brands as Goodfellows Pizza and Donegal Catch.
Business Requirement
As part of an overall move to a standard platform within the northern food group Green Isle recently implemented SAP R3. As part of this process data had to be migrated from a number of existing systems to the new platform.
To achieve the required data load source data from a number of discreet business systems had to be reformatted to suit SAP.
This included a number of steps, such as:
- Data Cleaning – Removing invalid and un-required data.
- Translation – Re-Coded to SAP standards.
- Merging – Data from different source systems.
- Verifying – Ensuring data to be loaded was accurate and complete.
- Formatting – Providing data in a format suitable for import into SAP.
Solution
Genbase as the supplier of a number of the applications used by Green Isle worked with the Green Isle data team (lead by Vincent Kearney), on the project to facilitate the migration of data from a number of systems (including those developed by Genbase) to SAP.
The project involved generating MS Access queries to translate and format source data so that it could be verified and imported to the relevant SAP Modules.
Conclusion
Despite a difficult project time line Green
Isle where able to load the data required to go live with SAP R3 on
Schedule.
