Background
Roscommon based System Label is a specialist printer of industrial labels for multinational manufacturers in the electronics, automotive and medical sectors. A wholly owned subsidiary of German company System Label GmbH, System Label has been in Ireland since 1992 and has grown to a staff of 45.
Business Requirement
The business for System Label in Ireland was generated from two sources. 50-70% of business was related to clients of the parent company in Germany - Daimler Chrysler, Siemens, and Bosch to name a few. These orders were processed through the German plant but production happened in Roscommon.
A system was required which would allow both plants to share data relating to:
- Orders.
- Basic stock control of raw materials (in each plant).
- Delivery notes.
- Invoicing.
- Stock control of finished goods.
- Quotations.
Solution
Genbase Solutions worked in partnership with System Label over a period of a year to deliver a solution capable of supporting the business requirement. This solution was based on based on automatic transfer of data via a secure VPN.
Initially both plants had implemented
standard systems (based on bespoke modules developed in house and by
Genbase), then a data transfer module was developed and implemented.
This module controlled the flow of information between the two
plants, it managed the schedule of updates and dealt with update
conflicts between the two data sources.
